Artist Exhibit: May/June 2018
Laura grew up in Sunderland, Massachusetts, and has lived in Hadley since 1977. In high school, Laura took photography class and art classes, drawing classes at Greenfield Community College, and painting classes by area artists, Maurice Kennedy and Maureen Hillard. She sold her reverse glass paintings and jewelry, at local area craft fairs. Two of her painted ornaments were chosen to be on the Smithsonian Institution's "Trees of Christmas" celebration. The painted pony ornament was shown in the Painted Ponies and Beautiful Blocks magazine of the National Tole and Decorative Painters. The ornaments are part of the Smithsonian's permanent collection. Later, for her pet business, she took photos of client's pets for her website, which led her to her photography business. Noticing the beauty around her on her various walks, she would go back and take photos. Her note cards, in our card department, depict local scenerly and various close-ups of flowers, and more. Her work has been shown in local area businesses, banks, and the Amherst Art Walk. Several of her photos have been featured on NECN (New England Cable News in Boston).
PLEASE CONTACT THE ARTIST IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING ANY OF THE ARTWORK ON DISPLAY IN ATKINS BAKERY CAFE.
